Jiguwa is a newly established AI-Genomics biotech and healthcare company located in Incheon Songdo, South Korea. We aim to address the most imminent global problems facing humanity and earth. Jiguwa utilizes genomics and advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology to provide cutting edge innovative solutions, services and products for a prosperous humanity and future. We believe that everyone deserves a sustainable earth where human wellbeing and happiness can be realized today and into the future.
JIguwa corporation was started by the scientists and philanthropists from NGENI (Next Gen Intelligence) non-profit foundation (www.ngeni.org) in San Diego, California to promote collaborative research and development between US and Korea. NGENI foundation focuses on developing future technology using biological research and informatics approaches to address global concerns of health and the environment, aiming to create a better Earth for everyone.
Jiguwa is preparing to be a research driven social enterprise to address humanity's most imminent problems on Earth with novel project endeavors. A social enterprise is an organization that applies commercial strategies to efficiently deliver social, financial, and environmental well-being to all. Large efforts are made to maximize social impact as well as maintain sustainable business operations for co-owners. Social enterprises have social goals embedded in their objective, differentiating them from other organizations and corporations. The core of social enterprises revolves around promoting and encouraging social change, creating a sustainable business model that aims to benefit all.
Sustainability is about managing and protecting Earth’s natural resources, ecosystems, climate and atmosphere so that it secures prosperity of current and future generations of human. Human sustainability is one category, which involves specific goals, strategies and methods implemented to preserve and improve the quality of human life. Significant advances were made in the use of genomic technologies in the sustainability of huma and earth.
Genomics is the tool of choice for researchers who map genetic biodiversity. They use it to evaluate and better understand the genetic specificities of living organisms and to identify problems, such as contamination and pollution, in a rapid and effective manner. As we know, the impact of climate change on the geographic distribution and productivity of various species is difficult to predict.
Foods that are safer and more nutritious, new medical treatments and novel ways to help save the environment – these are just some of the many potential benefits that are expected to be derived from research into genes and how they function. While it has been known for some time that diet and specific nutrients can affect the gene functions, new research is expected to greatly advance our knowledge of nutrition and health.
Genomics is a key factor in addressing the global energy crisis. Through their knowledge in this field, researchers are developing a better understanding of how to harness various renewable energy sources. Furthermore, it appears that genetic engineering of enzymes will be a key factor in optimizing development of sustainable biofuels that can someday replace fossil fuels on a global scale
Most medical treatments have been designed with the average patient in mind. This approach works for some patients, but not for others. We know each person is unique. Where we live, our genetic makeup, our family medical history and our lifestyle choices all contribute to our health and well-being. Precision health takes into account differences in people’s genes, environments and lifestyles and formulates treatment and prevention strategies based on patients’ unique backgrounds and conditions.
People worldwide are living longer. Every country in the world is experiencing growth in both the size and the proportion of older persons in the population. Mounting evidence suggests that DNA damage plays a central role in aging. Multiple tiers of defense have evolved to reduce the accumulation of DNA damage, including reducing damaging molecules, repairing DNA damage, and inducing senescence or apoptosis in response to persistent DNA damage.
